MyChron 6, MyChron 5/5S, Alfano 7, Unipro UniGo, RaceBox and phone apps for karting: GPS rate, inputs, prices and which software opens each file.
The MyChron 6 (from A$1,082 in Australia) and the Alfano 7 both log GPS at 25 Hz, with RPM and temperature inputs. Unipro’s UniGo loggers use 10 Hz GPS, and Unipro’s software runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. A RaceBox records GPS but lists no RPM or temperature inputs. Then check which software opens your logger’s files on the computer you use.

Which one suits me?
- You want AiM’s current logger: the MyChron 6, at 25 Hz with a USB-C and Wi-Fi download. In Australia it’s sold through DPE.
- You want a logger with free phone apps: Alfano’s ADA apps are free on Android and iOS.
- You use a Mac or Linux: Unipro Analyser runs on both. For MyChron and Alfano files, a browser tool avoids needing Windows.
- You’re starting out and only need lap times and GPS speed: a RaceBox Mini S or a phone app with an external GPS records the line and speed; neither records RPM or temperature.
MyChron 5 vs 5S vs 6
- The MyChron 5 logs GPS at 10 Hz; the 5S and the 6 at 25 Hz.
- The 6 has a larger display (320×136 vs 268×128) and adds USB-C and an optional Mini USB drive to Wi-Fi download.
- AiM lists the 5S under its out-of-production pages. The MyChron 5, 5S and 6 all write

Questions
What is the best kart data logger?
It depends on what you need and the computer you use. The MyChron 6 and Alfano 7 both log 25 Hz GPS with RPM and temperature. Unipro’s UniGo loggers use 10 Hz GPS but have Mac and Linux software. Pick the one whose files you can open on the computer you own.
MyChron 6 or MyChron 5?
The MyChron 6 logs GPS at 25 Hz against the MyChron 5’s 10 Hz, has a larger display, and can also download over USB-C or to a Mini USB drive. The MyChron 5S also logs at 25 Hz, but AiM lists it under out of production.
How much is a MyChron 6 in Australia?
DPE Kart Superstore, AiM’s exclusive MyChron distributor for Australia and New Zealand, lists the MyChron 6 at A$1,082 (1T) and A$1,197 (2T), as of 23 October 2026.
MyChron or Alfano?
The MyChron 6 and the Alfano 7 both log 25 Hz GPS with RPM and temperature. MyChron uses AiM’s Race Studio 3 on Windows; Alfano has free ADA apps for Android, iOS and Windows. The Alfano 7 2T lists at €599 in Europe; the MyChron 6 2T is A$1,197 in Australia.
Can I use a RaceBox for karting?
A RaceBox Mini S or Micro records 25 Hz GPS on its own, for lap times and speed. RaceBox doesn’t market it for karts and lists no RPM or temperature inputs.
