Turn 1

Turn 1 is an open right-hander, turning through about 34° with a radius of about 100 m. Turn 1 comes 355 m after T7, and T2 follows 60 m later.

  • Garth Tander: Braking over the hump is tricky. It is easy to lock the right-front here, which spoils your run through Turn 2 and on towards the hairpin. (Supercars)

Turn 2

Turn 2 is a roughly right-angle left-hander, turning through about 111° with a radius of about 20 m. Turn 2 comes 60 m after T1, and T3 follows 155 m later. For 2017 its tyre bundle was replaced by a raised inner kerb. (Supercars, 2017)

  • Russell Ingall: Get the car balanced on the way out of this left-hander so you are set up for the slight right onto the front straight. (Crash.net)

Turn 3

Turn 3 is an open right-hander, turning through about 44° with a radius of about 60 m. Turn 3 comes 155 m after T2, and T4 follows 620 m later. Supercars' 2026 event map labels it Dunlop Corner. (Supercars 2026 event map)

  • Craig Lowndes: Older cars were flat through here, but the Gen3 cars make it a corner that needs real commitment on the way to the hairpin. (Supercars)

Turn 4

Turn 4 is a left-hand hairpin, turning through about 179°. (Supercars; Supercars) Turn 4 comes 620 m after T3, and T5 follows 685 m later. Supercars calls it the slowest corner on its calendar, and its 2026 event map labels it the Tyrepower Hairpin. (Supercars, 2026; Supercars 2026 event map)

  • Craig Lowndes: There are two distinct lines. The high line lets you rotate the car and slingshot onto the back straight, but leaves the inside open to a pass. (Supercars)
  • Russell Ingall: Get the power down as early as you can on the way out to set up the long run down the back straight. (Crash.net)

Turn 6

Turn 6 is a roughly right-angle left-hander, turning through about 100° with a radius of about 40 m. Turn 6 comes 380 m after T5, and T7 follows 130 m later.

  • Garth Tander: The stop comes almost as soon as the car is straight after the back-straight kink, and it is one of the hardest braking efforts of the season. (Supercars)
  • Craig Lowndes: Taking the low line at the hairpin sets up a pass into Turn 6, which then hands you the inside line for the final corner. (Supercars)

Turn 7

Turn 7 is a roughly right-angle left-hander, turning through about 80° with a radius of about 60 m. Turn 7 comes 130 m after T6, and T1 follows 355 m later. Supercars' 2026 event map labels it Coates Corner. (Supercars 2026 event map)

History

Symmons Plains opened in 1960 on a sheep paddock south of Launceston, and it is the shortest circuit on the Supercars calendar. A A$3 million upgrade in 2004 moved the pits to the outside of the circuit.
